It took over 3 years, around the end of the 19th century, to formulate the Sennelier range of Extra Soft Pastels a l'ecu and thus to create one of the worlds largest chromatic pastel ranges. The range has evolved over the years, but the heart of its design remains unchanged. A Sennelier Extra Soft Pastel is a high quality pure pigment finely ground with a natural binder. The high quality composition is the result of the perfect balance between binder and pigment. For graduated shades , increasing amounts of white are added to the original pigment. The manufacturing process does not involve any compression and the pastels are dried naturally
